Rebuilding the Conservative Movement for 2010 Must Start Now

WE START TODAY!

We can’t change what happened yesterday, but today we rebuild the conservative movement. We lost this election not because John McCain was a conservative, but because he was NOT conservative.

It has been said too many times by the pundits that “the ERA of Reagan is over,” but they have it backwards. The self described ‘smartest men in the room’ talking heads on our side have tried to bury him and his ideas.

The ideas of Ronald Reagan were enduring principles espoused by our founding fathers. They are the basis for a free and prosperous society, and have held us in good stead since the beginning of the republic. And now, these principles are being tossed out as old fashioned as we try to craft a ‘big government’ conservative movement. These notions are antithetical!

The ‘era of Regan’ will never end as it was based on ideas, philosophy and first principals of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. The Obama movement is a ‘cult of personality,’ not based on ideas and philosophy, but on a charismatic person. He did not talk of ideas or of a plan for action, but rather, of empty rhetoric and platitudes. His was an empty Christmas tree that anyone could hang their wishes on and hope that the big government Santa could deliver.

While Reagan was a charismatic leader, he led a movement based upon conservative principals and philosophy, laying out a specific plan for America and a vision for the world of liberty and prosperity.

We who love liberty must start today to rebuild that movement, so that the talking heads and party bosses do not abandon American values to try to build a ‘me too’ party that blurs the lines between Democrat and Republican. As Reagan said in 1975, it is time to raise “a banner of no pale pastels but bold colors.”

We cannot rely on the Republican Party. We must lead this from the ground up!
